Nottingham Citizens for Sanctuary community action on 7.11.09

Nottingham Citizens for Sanctuary | 20.10.2009 18:07

We are negotiating with the UK Border Agency to try to relocate reporting from Loughborough in Leicestershire which is a 32 mile round journey for which destitute asylum seekers get no financial help in any shape or form. It is important to have as much support as possible - hence I would be delighted if you could sign the petition.

If you live locally and could join our - Nottingham Citizens for Sanctuary community action on 7.11.09 from 12 - 2 p.m. in the Market Square's speakers corner, around the Brian Clough statue - that would be brilliant. We shall be doing a mock sign in with hopefull lots of people seeking sanctuary (asylum seekers) and host community with the media, at least one MP. It would make such a huge difference to those having to report in Loughborough!

Shut it down!

We don't need to move the reporting centres - we need to shut them down! These are places that the state uses to control and detain asylum seekers. They are not acceptable anywhere.
