Isi Leibler is a danger to Israel.

Tom Jones | 20.10.2009 11:38

When he calls J Street an extremist fringe group.

Leibler speaks of 3,500 years of Jewish history and the central role of Jerusalem in Judaism.

Leibler is right when he speaks of Jerusalem having a central role in Judaism but he neglects to mention that the the Jewish diaspora [begun as early as the 8th-6th century BCE] had left most of the Jews outside Palestine for the last thousands of years.

It was not until 1947 that the [now much maligned] United Nations decided on the partition of Palestine into a Jewish state, an Arab state, and a UN-administered Jerusalem.

Israel declared independence on May 14, 1948 and neighboring Arab states attacked the next day and were defeated.

Israel has survived all attacks since and now has peace treaties with Egypt and Jordan.

Peace with Syria and the Palestinians is all that remains to be accomplished for Israel to live in peace.

All this nonsense about “delegitimize Israel” is just Leibler paranoia that has spread Netanayhu.

It shows in their rantings about j Street – “We don't need them. They'll never see things our way, no matter what. Let them go. We're moral, our enemies are out to exterminate us along with our state, that's all you need to know. No modifications necessary. Stay the course. Concede nothing. Ease no siege. Give no ground. Ever”.

Israel has a great chance for peace now but will not go for it under Netanyahu.

He needs to be removed as well as the little fat bloke he calls minister for defence.
