Carnival Against the Arms Trade Court Date set

Five people are on trial in Brighton Magistrates Court for several offences relating to last year's Carnival Against the Arms Trade (see -  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2008/05/399714.html)

Four defendants are set to appear in court on 16th March 2010 charged with section 4 of the Public Order Act in relation to the 2008 Carnival Against the Arms Trade.

The trial was scheduled for three and a half weeks

One case, for alleged criminal damage, was dropped

In the previous trials, for a demo police descibed as 'a riot', three activists were found guilty of minor charges and one person was found guilty of damaging the managing director's car (see  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2008/05/399714.html)

In the 2nd trial Chris Bluemel was found not guilty after the court ruled that he acted in self defence when he punched PC Duggan in the face. PC Duggan was assaulting Chris with a baton (see  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2009/06/431805.html)

to those on trial in March. Hopefully it will be dropped beforehand. Glad to hear Chris got a good ruling on his. really good result that it was seen as self-defence against a violent officer!
