Uhuru Radio – serving African liberation

According to Uhuru News Director Nyabinga Dzimbahwe, “Uhuru Radio is a critically important weapon in the African liberation struggle! Throughout the African world, African people are facing severe economic and military aggression carried out by the forces that seek to enrich themselves at our expense. African people everywhere are resisting, and struggling for our freedom and the return of our resources. As the African liberation movement builds rapidly throughout Africa and the world, it’s urgent that Uhuru Radio expands its ability to communicate and unite the struggles of African people towards victory and independence in our lifetime.

“The Uhuru Movement recognizes that we are in a war of ideas. This is a war between the dying forces of white power imperialism and the emerging forces of African Socialism for the minds of the masses of poor and oppressed people. Today Imperialism has constructed a media cartel that serves the interest of the white ruling class. This international media apparatus serves to justify the brutal oppression carried out by imperialism every day. Moreover, its objective is to ideologically unite the European nation at the expense of the African nation.

“This imperialist media propaganda machine currently has a monopoly on the distribution of ideas. These ideas are intended to define our reality and shape our worldview. However, it is time for the African working class to speak for ourselves. It is time the world be seen from the perspective of the poor and oppressed masses.

Uhuru Radio expanding throughout the African world

Uhuru Radio is now broadcasting directly from: London, England; Soweto, South Africa; and in the U.S., from St. Petersburg, Florida; Washington, D.C.; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Oakland and Modesto, California with breaking news, interviews, culture and analysis from throughout the world.

Uhuru Radio has presented live talk with dynamic leaders of the Africa struggle including African Socialist International Chairman Omali Yeshitela; Glen Ford of Black Agenda Report; Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney and vice presidential candidate and hip-hop activist Rosa Clemente; Robert King of the Angola 3, the former Black Panther Party member wrongly convicted, who was recently released after spending 29 years in solidarity confinement in prison in Lousiana; and Pam Africa, of Friends and Family of Mumia Abu Jamal.

Uhuru Radio has recently launched 3 new programs:

* African Women in Revolution
* The Role of the Church in Revolution, and
* Rendez Vous avec Omali Yeshitela, its first French language programming.

Next month, a new FM station will be launched in Sierra Leone, as a part of the Uhuru Radio network, connecting Africans in West Africa with Africans throughout the African world. Uhuru Radio also has plans to provide programming in Spanish and several African languages.

Uhuru Radio is calling for support from the African community and its allies, to keep growing. On the Subscribe/Donate page of UhuruRadio.com, supporters can either make a one-time or monthly contribution.

You can download these dynamic presentations and burn them to disc or sign-up for the podcast and load them onto your mp3 player.
