News and events at and around Sumac

Pat | 02.10.2009 23:09

Now the summer is over there's lots of stuff going on at Sumac again; and like-minded events elsewhere.

A selection from our diary at  http://www.veggies.org.uk/diary.htm

Hi everyone,

I'm cooking at a community cafe in Sneinton saturday daytime so I
don't mind cooking lots and doing people's kitchen too. If anyone
fancies giving me a hand though that'd be lovely!

Cheers,

Rachel.

Monday 5th Oct 09 to Sunday 11th Oct

AT Co-operative aka Activist Tat
(Not at Sumac Centre)

Access, Tools And Training The AT Group is a co-op providing
equipment, transport logistics, training and skill sharing for
grass-roots campaigning groups.

* Do you want to help facilitate grass roots events?
* Do you have a pile of useful equipment that you hardly use,
cluttering up your space?
* Do have or know of a large storage space being underused?
* Do you have skills or want to develop skills relating to
logistics and campaigning?

If any of these questions apply to you, talk to the AT Co-op.

Individuals in the collective have years of experience in organising
large scale events. We want to share these skills and create an
equipment resource to help reduce the work load of individuals, and
keep equipment within our networks. On 5th-11th October we are running
on a training week in Nottingham. Come along and learn how to put up a
marquee, cook in a field kitchen, install solar power lighting or help
us sorting tat, mending marquees, painting toilets and installing
shelves. ...more here...

Brinsley Animal Rescue Street Collection
From 10:00

Brinsley Animal Rescue is a not for profit organisation dedicated to
caring for animals. Our primary mission is to relieve the suffering of
animals and birds. Many of the animals that come to us are simply
’surplus to requirements’ from the meat, dairy and egg industry.
Because such animals are deemed unprofitable then it is our aim to
take them on and find them loving homes in which they can enjoy the
retirement they deserve.

There will be a rare opportunity for a City-wide street collection on
Sunday 11th October, for which lots of help is requested. Contact
Nottingham Animal Rights for details at  nar@veggies.org.uk
