The beginning of a hungerstrike in Calais was announced on Wed. 30th of
September. The aim was to demand cooperation between European States to
obtain real possibilities for seeking asylum. The hungerstrikers, gathered
in Parc Saint Pierre in Calais town center, were quickly evicted from
there by police forces. Three of them were arrested that night, the others
narrowly escaping arrest.
Facing this repression and the difficulties of organizing such a movement
whilst living on the streets, they decided to suspend their hunger strike.
Despite this, many migrants have decided to organize to get their rights,
not only by challenging laws but also how they are applied.
The struggle goes on for freedom of movement!
