Lime Render at Ecoworks on Sunday Oct 4th

Ecoworks | 29.09.2009 11:34

There will be an ACTIVITY DAY on the Ecoworks Strawbale building on Sunday 4th October. For the last time this year, we will be applying Lime Render to the outside of the building, mostly finishing small details and filling in little cracks etc. The work will involve making up a lime/sand mix, treading it, and applying it to the building.

Lime has been used as a building material for millenia, and is favoured today by strawbale builders (and eco-conscious builders generally) because of its flexibility, breathability, recyclability, and relatively low carbon-footprint; see  http://www.greenspec.co.uk/html/materials/limemortar.html for more background on the material.

Working with lime is also much more fun than mixing cement! Everyone is welcome to come and have a go - we will be working from 10.30 - 4.30.

Wear old clothes, and bring wellies if you have them, also bring your lunch (we can provide hot drinks).

Ecoworks community garden is reached off Ransom Road, St. Ann's, Nottingham. Access is now restricted by electronic gates; ring the mobile number below to get in. We may also be able to provide lifts from the City Centre by arrangement.

For more information or to arrange access, ring 07719 428187.
