No Borders in Calais: arrests at prefecture

On Friday 25th about 20 people were arrested in Calais for trying to speak to the prefect and his staff. They had gone to the sub-prefecture to make enquires about the fate of the migrants in Calais and the solutions to the problem of hundreds of migrants including children who are sleeping under bridges after the forced closure and destruction of the Pashtu jungle. Talks were interrupted when the police unprovokedly attacked the activists and evicted them forcibly from the building. The activists than displayed banners in front of the prefecture and sat peacefully until they were detained and taken to the police station. They were released without charges and held an improvised demonstration in front of the police station. Some cops marched behind the banner saying 'HUMAN RIGHTS HAVE NO BORDERS' as they were trying to move the protesters away from the police station. Some local media attended.
