WEST YORKSHIRE ANIMAL RIGHTS UPDATE

DEMO OUTSIDE CIRCUS MONDAO IN CALVERLEY
This afternoon, nine activists held a protest outside the Circus Mondeo show at Carr Farm (Carr Road, Calverley, West Yorkshire, LS28 5RT) to highlight their continued use of animals in performing acts and call for a public boycott.

Placards and banners were held, with passers by honking their horns in support of the demonstration and also stopping to take leaflets. Many of those going into the show took information, a number of whom vowed never to go to an animal circus again. Locals also came over and showed sympathy with the protest and telling activists how sickened they were to have an animal circus in their area.

Circus Mondeo are moving sites this Monday morning and setting up their show at Tingley (Near Wakefield), where there will also be demonstrations held.

The address for the next venue is:
Bradford Road,
Blackgates, Tingley,
Wakefield, West Yorkshire,
WF3 1SR
(Near the Thorpe Lane junction)

CUBBING MONITORED AND STOPPED AT THE MEYNELL & SOUTH STAFFS FOXHOUNDS

Activists from West Yorkshire Animal Rights joined up with the Sheffield Hunt Saboteurs group in order to monitor and interviene with, where necessary, illegal cub hunting at the Meynell & South Staffordshire Fox Hunt in Derbyshire.

The hunt met at 6.30am and as of then hunt saboteurs followed them around the countryside, filming evidence suggesting illegal hunting activity (such as riders on point, a full pack of hounds, terriers ready to send down holes during dig-outs etc). In response the hunt kept moving throughout the morning in order to keep away from sabs, leading to a limited number of flushed covers and no kills. As a result, the morning of hunt sabbing was a success, ending with the hunt packing up early – no doubt due to no possibility of being able to illegally hunt unhindered.

ROOM 7 HAVE REMOVED THE FUR

Our team of fur shop investigators visited a number of stores in the Leeds area in the past week, collecting information about those who have real fur on sale. Those involved in the team are well experienced in identifying real fur and the species of which is originated from.

Following this, we today visited Room 7 (Street Lane, Leeds) and talked to the owner about the issue; however the several rabbit fur coats earlier identified had been taken off sale and only faux-fur remains.

We are currently in discussion with a number of other stores and will be launching our new anti-fur campaign in the coming days.
