Fantastic action, it was about time people reacted to this greed and injustice

18.09.2009 12:43

Banks have been having a shower of cash for failing to keep with reality and living in their fantasy greed castle, made with ordinary people's hard work and cash. Now we are paying the price of their failure with unemployment and the reduction in public services to bail them out, while they still pay themselves astronomical bonuses for failure and take no responsability for their criminal greed, so well done and good luck with your action, it's need it and I hope it escalates to the whole country.

Well Done Bristol!

Reclaim The Banks?

What would be the point of reclaiming the banks? For who and for what reason?

To transcend capitalism? To stop free market capitalism profiting from exploitation?

Big up to the mutineers in Bristle

here's a few reason we should smash the banks

RBS is the world’s leading creditor to the arms industry
having given 44.6 billion in loans over the last ten years.

Barclay bank are the market maker for ITT/ EDO MBM and invest 7.3 Billion in the Arms trade worldwide they are a valid target for any anti militarist action.

Lloyds TSB – Lloyds TSB – Lloyds hold shares in the UK arms sector worth 717.5
million and serves as principal banker to BAE Systems.

RBS fund climate chaos

RBS have also given millions of pounds in loans to Eon, an energy company who want to build the first of a new generation of coal fired power stations.

I think a load of fake coal has been tipped inside BT (they own Miller Argent, who are developing Ffos y Fran, the largest open cast coal mine in Europe).

'Reclaim The Banks' isn't a very good demand for an anti-capitalist movement. Why would we want to take over the banks for ourselves? We surely want to get rid of them all together. That slogan is a confused one.

I'm sure the co-op are not flawless, but yes, they are better. They are the only UK high street bank which does not invest in the arms trade (according to the War on Want report you yourself quoted : )

serial disarmer

The co-op do invest in arms

but not to 'oppresive regimes'. I think

Co-opted

repossess

21.09.2009 08:05

it was repossesss not reclaim - and was come up with in the light of house repossessions - with the idea to connect the bank bail outs, their power, unaccountability and their investements in he arms trade etc

co-mutineer

weak slogan etc

24.09.2009 11:13

"Repossess" the banks is an even weaker slogan than "Reclaim".
