Redditch Community Festival - Sun 27 Sept
Joe Public | 18.09.2009 04:02 | Culture | Free Spaces | Birmingham
This is the first event of its kind in Redditch. A fantastic, fun, FREE, family festival organised by the community for the community in the heart of Redditch Town Centre. There will be stalls, displays, food, live bands on stage, dancing and so much more...!
We Are Redditch - Community Festival - Sunday 27 Sept, 12 noon - 6pm
In the old market square (behind Debenhams)
The festival is an opportunity for the many diverse communities in Redditch to come together and celebrate our cultures and all that`s good about our town. The festival will not only engender pride within the community, but also offer support to local organisations/groups and help to raise awareness in the wider community of these organisations/groups.
Over 40 groups and sections of the community will be represented, either by a stall, performance, display etc. Here`s a small selection to demonstrate the diverse nature of this event:
Age Concern Redditch
Caribbean Roots Connections
Friends of the Earth
Homestart
Indian Association
Kingfisher FM Radio Station
Pagan Association
Pakistani Forum
Polish Community
Rainbow Redditch (new LGBT group)
Redditch & Bromsgrove Campaign for Real Ale.
Redditch Chinese Association
Redditch Freecycle
Redditch Vegetarian & Vegan Society
Romani Roots
Talking drums
YMCA youth group
and many, many more...
This is the first time such an event has been staged in Redditch, but if it`s a success, the plan is to make this an annual event.
The festival has been organised by representatives of many of the above groups under the banner of the Redditch Community Forum. For further details see http://redditchcommunityforum.webs.com/weareredditch.htm or email communityforum@live.co.uk
