Straw Bale / Lime Activity Day, 5/9/09

Ecoworks | 01.09.2009 11:45

There will be another ACTIVITY DAY on the straw bale building at Ecoworks on Saturday, 5th Sept, from 10.30- 4.30. We'll be applying the final coat of lime render to the outside of the building.

Lime is a traditional building material which has been used for many centuries, and is becoming more widely used again by environmentally-conscious builders. We'll be mixing the lime (with sand) with handtools and by trampling, and applying it by (gloved) hand. No previous experience required - come and have a go.

We'll have soup for volunteers (plus hot drinks etc); bring food to share are well if you like. Wearing old clothes and footwear is recommended, although overalls and wellies will be available to use.

Ecoworks is accessed from Ransom Road in St. Anns, Nottingham; there are green electronic gates near the bottom of the road. To gain access, ring 07719 428187. You can also ring this number to arrange a lift from the city centre.

Hope to see you there.
