We concede that being Treasury Secretary at a time when the global financial system is disintegrating is no easy task, especially when you are trying to implement policies that haven't got a snowball's chance in Hell of working, but even so, it is sometimes difficult to feel sorry for Tim Geithner. Geithner is not such a bad sort, at least in comparison with sleazeball Larry Summers and the Nazi-policy-pushing Nero Obama, but he sure has helped make a mess of things.

While his cohort Benny "Bubbles" Bernanke was at Jackson Hole claiming the equivalent of George W. Bush's "Mission Accomplished" in his hyperinflationary war against the financial crisis, Geithner was trotted out to an interview with the Wall Street Urinal and Digg. The questions were from Digg users, who are apparently less adept at playing the kiss-up game than are the Urinal's professional reporters. In response to questions about the great bailout swindle, and the relationship between Washington and Wall Street, Geithner produced some truly impressive spin:

"We have been forced to do just extraordinary things and, frankly, offensive things to help save the economy," Geithner said. "I am completely confident that none of those decisions had anything to do with the specific interest of any individual firm, much less Goldman Sachs."

We would agree that extraordinarily offensive things were done, and are continuing to be done, but asking us to believe that the bailout wasn't a gift to Goldman Sucks, JP Morgan Chase and the rest of the British Empire's financial vampires is a bit much. Does he really think we are that stupid?

Apparently so, as he also took the time to praise the great men who ran the biggest swindle in history:

"These are deeply honorable men, great public statesmen willing to come serve their country in very challenging times and they did exceptionally good things for the country," Geithner said.

What a load of self-serving crap! Disgustingly corrupt jerks who sold the nation down the river while shoveling trillions of dollars of our money down the bankrupt maws of their parasitic cronies, is more like it. You really expect us to believe that, Tim? Or are you just trying to get yourself fired before it all blows up in your face?

Then again, what do you expect in a period where the "Big Lie" is the game of the day, where looting and pillaging is presented as a "public service," where policies to "cull the human herd" are called "reform," and where fascism is on the march? By that standard, Geithner did a fine job. We're dying to see what comes next. Literally.
