Dan Glass and two indymedia journalists beaten and arrested

During the morning of 10 of August, an indymedia crew left the Scottish Climate camp based at Mainshill and proceeded to visit Danny Meikle in Coalburn (a few miles away).
The interview was decided upon after a hostile visit by Danny Meikle to the Scottish Climate camp two days ago. Meilke faces allegations of corruption and kickbacks from scottish Coal concerning the open cast mining operations around the village of Douglas. Locals have, for a long time, lived with the threats and abuse from Meikle who is an elected local councillor- he has been convicted of racial abuse by a local resident.
Protesters and indymedia journalists experienced his wrath two days ago and it was this encounter that led to Dan Glass and two indymedia journalists travelling to Meikle's house this morning. According to a text message, Meikle came out of the house and attacked the two indymedia journalists, then retreated into his house and called police.
Police arrived and detained all three for breaching the peace.
The latest news is that one indymedia journalist has been formally arrested at Lanark police station whilst Dan and another indymedia journalist continue to be questioned.
After the the two indymedia journalists were assaulted, Meikle then jumped into a car and travelled to Hamilton to meet up with the corrupt South Lanark Planning office and shouted abuse at protesters, from the Scottish Climate Camp, who were protesting peacefully outside the office.
Police grabbed him and escorted him into the building for his own protection.

Hmm.. so first there's a confrontation, and then the three "journalists" decide to turn up on the doorstep of the bloke's home. And they're suprised they weren't invited in for tea and biscuits? What did they expect to achieve?
That's not to say that Mr Meikle isn't a nasty piece of work. But it should be pointed out that the "racial" assault, for which he was convicted, was for calling a Welsh person "boyo". In a nasty, aggressive way, for sure, but whether that's "racial" is open to debate.
