Compare Latuff's Iraq "cartoons" ca 2005 and 2006 before his beloved "resistance" (=Al Qaeda and Saddamites) got shafted in the surge. And where are his usual "steadfast" bearded Taliban?

Even Goebbels is spinning in his grave

They are in de facto control of most of Afghanistan, and they are planting roadside bombs and launching attacks even where they aren't in control. 'The Long War' will die down again over the winter, but there will be many more bloody summers before the someone realises the war is unwinnable. In the eighties and nineties Afghanistan was usually referred to in the media as 'the USSRs Vietnam'. I suppose today Afghanistan is the US's Chechnya. Latuffs quicksand is apt either way.
