BNP lose Brinsley

Observer | 31.07.2009 12:36 | Anti-racism

The BNP have lost their former Notts stronghold, Brinsley, to the Tories. Yesterday's by-election, forced by the expulsion of former BNP Councillor Sadie Graham, was won by Tory candidate John Booth, by a large margin.

The Tories got 416 votes (40.9%) whilst Jenina 'Nina' Brown of the BNP came in second with 288 (28.3%). Labour were thoroughly trounced in fourth place (68 votes, 6.7%). Booth's popularity was thought to have been boosted by his decision to run as an anti-BNP candidate.

Sadie Graham, the former BNP councillor for Brinsley, has gone into hiding since she was arrested in connection with the leak of the BNP's membership list last year. Once a leading light of the fascist movement, she was caught out plotting a coup against BNP fuhrer Nick Griffin. The party's 'security' raided her house (let in by Jenina Brown - the BNP candidate in the current elections) and stole computer equipment and papers. She was expelled from the party and failed dismally in her subsequent attempts to set up another nationalist sect.

Whilst a win for the Tories is never something to put a smile on your face, a defeat for the BNP in an area they considered their own is great news. The people of Brinsley have had enough of half-baked Nazis turning their village into a laughing stock.

The BNP are not fascist. You have obviously never read their policies. They are an open democratic party. Why don't you have a go at new Labour for illegally invading Iraq and Afghanistan? If anything it is UAF who are facsist because they tell people how to vote which is illegal unless you are standing as a candidate or involved in campaigning for a political party you belong to. The UAF also incite violence against members of nationalist parties which is also illegal.
