North-West NO2ID Meeting for Union Representatives

Dave Page | 21.07.2009 00:18 | Social Struggles | Technology

Despite Government spin, the National Identity Scheme is still very much active. Compulsory enrolment on the National Identity Register is still going ahead, regardless of whether people carry an identity card or not.

NO2ID is keen to engage further with trades unions representatives across the North-West. We have seen strong commitment at the national level against the
ID scheme, including a motion at the last TUC [1]. We wish to co-operate with local union branches and members to propogate accurate information about the scheme to counter Home Office propoganda, and to encourage and co-ordinate resistance to the scheme.

With public suspicion of the pernicious identity scheme at an all-time low, it is now more important than ever to make sure that your union's members are getting the real facts about the scheme and how to oppose it.

To this end, NO2ID has organised a meeting at 7pm on Thursday 23rd July, at the Friends Meeting House, Mount Street, Manchester. National co-ordinator Phil Booth, union liason Christina Zaba and north-west co-ordinator Dave Page will be in attendance from NO2ID.

We would like to encourage your union to send a representative to this meeting, preferably from a Manchester or North-West oriented branch. Please contact me on  north.west@no2id.net and let me know who you can send along, or to whom I can send minutes and keep informed of future events and meetings.

Yours,

Dave Page

There's a Conservative government coming along soon and the ID scheme will be scrapped.

Asking trade union represetatives to help stop the ID scheme has got to be some kind of joke in very poor taste. The unions are very pro-Labour, and it is therefore partly the unions fault that the vile, sinister and authoritarian ID scheme was foisted on the UK public in the first place.

Anyone voting for Labour should hang their head in shame.
