Support for No Pretence Intervention

London Profeminist Mens Group | 20.07.2009 23:31 | Gender

The London Profeminist Men's Group (LPMG) wishes to thank and support the Anarcha-Feminists who made the "We Make No Pretence" intervention at the Anarchist Conference 2009.

The members of the London Profeminist Men's Group cannot in anyway claim that they are less sexist than any men or anyone out there, whether inside or outside the anarchist scene. But we wish more men were interested in getting involved in discussion and consciousness raising groups that are here for us to work on our internal sexism and gender role and how it affects our lives and our everyday interaction with other people.

Oppression systems are everywhere. As individuals, we are sometimes on the good side of the power balance, sometimes on the bad side... It is more than time for everyone, including inside the anarchist movement, to get ready to be challenged. To stop "pretending nothing was said" and start asking why we're getting challenged by oppressed people. In this respect, white heterosexual men have to make lots of efforts. This is not about guilt. This is about realising our position in oppressive systems and taking responsibility for it.

Thanks to the group of Anarcha-Feminists for such a powerful and meaningful intervention. We do believe the "movement" needs to be shaken up.
We welcome the "Make no pretence" statement as well as the second statement written in response to the big reaction that the intervention provoked.

Finally, we condemn all hostility, intimidation and sexist reaction that the intervention has provoked.

a world without males! chimp males ant males bird males? an artificial world of only females in every species on the planet maybe? and what about all the females that would naturally object to this crazy theory, like straight human or bi-sexual women, females from other species that maybe would act and feel strangely lost looking for a mate but finding, no. personally i feel you are actually being ridiculous, and i also resent the pictures of female activists holding THEIR OWN CHILDREN? and the FACT? that all anachist soup kitchens are ran by unhappy human females as propaganda. this is actually just a war of words and images against one person in the "movement". and i believe i am that person you are trying "to get at". you are no intervention and to claim that you have no pretensions is false, when you obviously rely on words and images to convey a message to a person in particular. your game is up, because you are misleading alot of confused people who at their dismay feel attacked by your nonsense, my name is graham belcher and am certainly not sexist but other people namely 'marion' from christiania and a few other people in the "movement" feel at odds with me.
but really, if this is as good as you can 'produce' then:
a) people like me are not going to listen to you
b) people like me are going to disregard what you have to say
C) admmitadly sometimes i also feel when i see any creature that has lived a mean life and needs help 9 times out of ten i help.
humans are not the only creatures on the planet but all creatures can live without humans, humans cannot, when i see, hear people messing with the natural order of things then these people must re-assess exactly what they wish to portray. get into action and put right what is truely wrong, by sticking to the truely important issues, which through personal experience is not a movement or natural world filled with nothing but unhappy females to suggest this is nonsense .
actions speak louder than words, do it, dont talk or portray and waste other peoples valuble time hiding behind masks etc attemting to intimidate people who have nothong to do with a sexism 'warlock hunt'!?

hi graham, wow what an explosion! You've every right to disagree and here's an acknowledgement of you're hurt feelings that you seek. Sometimes when we read things it stirs up feelings, sometimes intense feelings and we can get things a bit out of focus. Ive been following the NP action, but i haven't noticed any female/woman only, get rid of men talk. Where did you see that? You're piece reads a little trollish with the unsubstanciated digs at named people, real or unreal. When you balance up again, reread the information they've provided and maybe you might see that no-one is actually attacking you, its more of a wake up call to men in general for the lack of support and respect that is generally given to women, not just in the (A)movement, but worldwide surely you can see that. What they said made me think and yes, i agree. Oh yeah, what's with the warlock trip? Take care m.
