Lindon Homes salesoffice in Bristol attacked

AG | 17.07.2009 12:28 | Free Spaces | Social Struggles

Last night in Bristol (16 July 09) the property developer 'Lindon Homes' received several paintbombs against it's windows, walls and front doors.

This was done in the context of the anti-capitalist struggle to create, maintain and defend autonomous and occupied spaces across UK & Europe.

We call for people to prepare actions for the UK Days of Action for Autonomous and occupied spaces, 18 & 19 September 09. There are targets everywhere and so are we...

We state that our aim is to attack aspects of the financial and public sector making money from housing speculation, gentrification, evictions and repossessions.

"Property is Theft, Rent is Robbery and Profit only another word for Plunder."

Why wait for September? Act now...

what complete nonsense...

More ineffectual nonsense. This helps no one, it threatens no one. It's tactically and strategically ridiculous.

What a complete waste of time

What a complete waste of time, and the peple involved should be exposed for the pathetic, narcissistic individuals they are.

"So what are we going to attack as part of the struggle?"

"Well, we could take on the weapons manufacturers up at BAE systems, or the military jet engine providers of Rolls Royce, or we could even get a bus over to Cheltnham and make a stand against the spies at GCHQ?"

"That sounds a bit like hard work. Let's just lob some paint at an estate agents, then put a statement out boasting about it before going to the pub."

FFS.

that any listing or reporting of direct actions in this country is usually immediately followed by half a dozen comments claiming that the people responsible are either fools, the action pathetic and useless, or the words they use to explain totally unacceptable and not-as-revolutionary as the sacred doctrine of doing-nothing?

Is it the nerds at Libcom or NECTU? Seems like they have pretty much the same agenda - draw as many people as possible into the spectacle of work-consume-die; attack the animal rights and activist scene; cause as much sectarian and personal division as possible; prevent the movement from progressing to the level of confrontation seen in Europe.

Either way, they can both go FUCK THEMSELVES.

For a smashing September!

re-actions

If you totally believe in something, think things through and don't hurt animals or people then JUST DO IT! - regardless of upsetting some reactionary morons who just wanna keep everything the same.... Good for those taking action!

Context? Why Lindon Homes in particular?

19.07.2009 15:09

Great action, but maybe a bit more explanation about why Lindon Homes in particular? Have they been aggressively shutting down squats or something?

I think it should be a new rule on Indymedia that any action immediately receiving the reactionary rants like this one has should be deemed a great success. Obviously there are some people somewhere waiting for stories like these with a brief to try to denigrate them. IT'S A SIGN YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT!

If what you were doing was ineffectual or not changing anything then they wouldn't bother to comment.

Maybe like the recent hidden story about Israel's paid army of internet propagandists, the UK government has a similar one running? (Why was this hidden, BTW, it didn't seem anti-semitic or anything?)

"If what you were doing was ineffectual or not changing anything then they wouldn't bother to comment."

Err.. no, that's precisely why some of us comment. Let's take your remark above - now you're keen to find out what Lindon homes has done. Maybe other activists are thinking "Yes, what's up with Lindon homes?"

Only hitch? Lindon homes doesn't exist. Guess the original poster chucked something at Linden homes, but it would be helpful if they bothered spelling it right. (It's like starting a campaign against Tusco's - we can sort of guess what you're on about, but it doesn't lend it much credibility).

So what's Linden homes' crime, that makes it worse than, say, Foxtons or someone? I'd be keen to know too. Maybe they have knocked down some cheap housing, in which case give us some more details. But, from a glance at their website, they are promoting the Homebuy scheme for key workers (ie NHS nurses, teachers and so on) helping them to get affordable housing. Which makes them seem a weird target.
