International Protest against the Cult of Greed, also known as the Church of Scientology. As much a celebration of the imminent end of this evil money making scam as a protest.

July 11th 2009

18 months ago the capitalist greed cult known as the Church of Scientology decided it would try to censor free speech on the internet. This sparked a campaign against it by a leaderless collective known as Anonymous.

Since the beginning of the campaign there have been numerous successes and we will be celebrating these at a big international protest on the 11th of July. As usual there will be cake and dancing!

Church of Scientology London: 11am - 1pm
146 Queen Victoria Street, London EC4V 4BY
0207 246 2700

Scientology and Dianetics Centre: 1.30pm - 5pm
68 Tottenham Court Road, London W1T 2EZ
0207 580 3601

We are Anonymous
We are legion
We do not forget
We do not forgive
Expect us

If the usual suspects have read this and are wanting to cry about protesting something somehow more worthwhile please bear in mind that anons are involved in a diverse range of activism. Also google "scientology racism" 2scientology farigame" and "scientology homophobia" before defending the CoS as harmless.

Good to see Anonymous in full swing. Keep it up. I'll be there.

Perhaps The "Usual Indymedia Suspects" could check Youtube

Youtube may not be politically the best thing on the Internet. But before dismissing Anonymous as "internet bullies" or "cyberterrorists" or simply "a one issue group" go and have a look at the stream of hatred on the "A Message to Scientology" video.

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCbKv9yiLiQ

Getting on for four million views and the number of comments almost fourty thousand. It is not trivial and it is not a "weird cult" falling out with its ex members. It is a relic of the cold war that destroys lives and, literally, wants to take over the world. That video is only the tip of a huge iceberg.

A Scientologist "advised" Sarah Palin on her election campaign and political career.

Curiously, Palin has suddenly resigned as governor of Alaska. Coates, her adviser, put together a document advising Scientology to get into the politics "game". Does Indymedia really think that Anonymous - having stirred up the Scientologists - will be the only people on the internet to be harassed, threatened, treated as "fair game". The BNP uses "Redwatch" - now consider that kind of treatment backed up with millions of dollars to quash your opinions because your opinions are not whatever the leaders of Scientology suppose are the correct opinions. Consider how that changes day to day.

The number of reporters harassed, stalked and abused by scientology is not perhaps as many as the number of antifascists beaten up by combat 18 or BNP related thuggery. But scientology is happy to use legal harassment to "destroy" opponents. Who remembers the Bristol Servers being seized?

Indymedia has been coopted into Anonymous. Not because Indymedia wants it. Not because Anonymous needs it. Not because anybody on Indymedia specifically opposes Scientology. But because the values, ideas, ethics, politics, ideals, standards and worldviews of those who do contribute to Indymedia are not generally given to wanting to live in a totalitarian society where politics has to conform to a corporate agenda and dissent is, ultimately, removed by any means at the disposal of those who claim to be in charge.

At the end of the day Indymedia will not be untouched by the fallout from Anonymous. It might be best to understand what is going on now.
