Drax 29 trial starts Monday 10am - Leeds

Last June 29 people stopped a train taking coal into Drax power station to draw attention to Climate Change and the contribution of carbon emissions from coal powered fire stations and in particular Drax.


The Drax 29 court case will be taking place in Leeds from Monday June 29th 2009 for approximately 2 weeks.

Come and show your support outside the court, banners are being made so just bring yourself at 9am outside Leeds Crown Court. As the case will depend on the jury's opinion please dress accordingly if you are planning on coming into the courtroom.

Biased Judge

It would seem that the trial judge has ruled out the defence of necessity in this trial – i.e that stopping the train was necessary to prevent global warming.

Seven defendants have decided that they will therefore plead guilty.
