Throughout the weekend here at Glastonbury, the campaigners over at the Climate Camp field have been actively working with members of the public and newcomers to direct action to ech them some of the "tools of the trade" of the modern activist. On friday, a departure lounge set up in the Greenpeace field was blockaded, yesterday a low cost airline travel agent in Shangri-La was shut down by members of the public D-Locking themselves on to the desk at the agency in the face of confrontation from the Shangri-La police force, and today, actual villagers from Sipson, threatened with destruction from the planned expansion of Heathrow airport, who have recreated their village here at Glastonbury, were encouraged to see new faces locked on with arm tubes to stop a bulldozer from destroying the heart of their community, the village pub!

Those who doubt the importance of this outreach and training work would be encouraged to hear the comments of pasing members of the public, most of whom have had no prior contact with "activist" networks. All were seeing how easy it is to get involved and how just a handful of people can make real change.

People throughout the weekend will be encouraged to post their stories and experiences of how this kind of outreach work has affected them, and how they can use Indymedia as a platform to get their real stories of real actions out to a global audience through Indymedia. Anybody who wishes to find out more about media activism and Indymedia in general can come along to a skillshare in collaboration with Nottinghamshire and Northern Indymedia Collectives tomorrow at 4pm in the Veggies Catering Campaign tent, and those wanting to get involved in tomorrows "direct action" and find out more about how to use yourself as a weapon of mass distraction in the fight against Climate Chaos, should head to the Climate Camp field between Green Futures and Shangri-La tomorrow at 5pm.
