Loyalists March in Leeds for first time in 40 years

Less than a week since the BNP took the polls the Orange order took to the streets of Leeds - In the same place the Left had gathered for an anti-fascist rally less than an hour earlier.
Today people in Leeds gathered outside the city centre art gallery to unite against fascism. Less than an hour after the demo left the area it was filled with Orangemen and other Loyalists henchmen.
The opposition was nowhere to be seen. We weren't organised and we weren't canny. This left comrades undefended while the Orange order celebrated taking back the streets after 40 years without their sectarian hate marches.
Racism and fascism come in many guises - and now the BNP have been ushered into high places it seems their old friends are welcome too.
If you'd like to help them celebrate tonight the festivities continue tonight at: Burley Sports Bar, Burley Road, Leeds, LS4 2ET - for a "Summer Sash Bash"
