White Supremacists in the North East?

A macam | 12.06.2009 14:14 | Anti-racism | Workers' Movements | World

Allegations of White Supremacists planning terrorist attacks in the North East have emerged. The accused lives in the same street as BNP members, yet the BNP are not defending him or his rights to be an unreconstructed White Supremacist Fascist. This seems curious given that a BNP member has just been elected to Europe for the area.

Ian Davison, a 41-year-old man from County Durham has been charged with possession of the poison ricin. Arrested last week by anti-terrorist police investigating suspected white supremacists.

Mister Davison apparently lives up the road from Mr L. Selkirk, Myrtle Grove in Burnopfield. Unless Davison and Selkirk are the same person. In which case Mister Davison would be a BNP member, as Mr L. Selkirk was publicised to be a member earlier this year. This is the kind of mistake of identity that allowed mister Menezes to be shot and so, should be treated with extreme caution.

Mr Davison, of Myrtle Grove in Burnopfield, is due to appear before Westminster magistrates accused of offences under the Terrorism Act. Mr Davison's son Nicky, 18, has already appeared in court charged with possessing information to commit a terrorist act. The unemployed teenager and his father were arrested on 2 June.

The charge against Ian Davison is worded: "acquired a quantity of the toxin ricin, explosives and other manuals and disseminated them to others and encouraged others to commit acts of terrorism".

He is also accused of having a manual on making firearms and explosives.

It might well make sense to simply arrest all of Myrtle Grove. It seems to be the standard operating procedure for non BNP Terrorists. The BNP should support this in order to distance their legitimate member, Mister Selkirk, from the alleged white supremacist. This might be an infringement of civil liberties - although the operational precedent exists for islamic suspects.

It is expected that the organisation "Civil Liberty" will be financing the defence of Mister Davison as his case falls into their clear remit as outlined on their website ( http://www.civilliberty.org.uk). With connections to The United States, "Civil Liberty" has a clear understanding of White Supremacist thinking and so can ensure that the best possible defense for the possession of ricin can be made. This would be consistent with their support for Griffin and Collett in their prosecution for similar offences. Civil Liberty can be contacted at P.O. Box 1132, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE99 4YT, Great Britain. This should not be confused with the BNP postbox of the same name.

Mister Brons, recently elected to Europe, should be supporting separatists as part of his natural constituency. Yet, he appears to have made no comment despite being able to comment upon cases not involving white supremacists. His membership of Nazi organisations in the 1950's also gives him an insight into the motivations of mister Davison that few other elected politicians could have.

In order for justice to be done and to be seen to be done, the BNP need to take up this case as matter of absolute urgency. If they fail to do so they show they are just as corrupt as the mainstream parties.
