Rob Williams Reinstated as Union Convenor at Swansea Linamar

A day before workers at the Swansea Linamar plant were due to begin an indefinite strike, the company bosses have reinstated Rob Williams.
Williams was sacked in April after consistently defending the workers' terms of employment and their wages, and he also played a part in the Visteon plant occupations and protests after many of them were laid off without pay. The campaign to fight against his unlawful sacking had the support of workers from all over the UK, from secretaries of several unions and also major support from the SWP and the Socialist Party.
A strike ballot was held recently, and of a turnout of 88%, the vast majority of them (139 to 19) voted for a strike. The workers were well prepared and a picket was to begin this morning, followed by a major demonstration in the centre of Swansea.
