I've done the "D'Hondt" formula calculations which are shown in the attached graphic, which allocates the first seat to the party with the highest vote, then second and subsequent seats in the same way except that where a party has been allocated a seat their original total is divided by 1 plus the number of seats already allocated to that party.

Isn't it clear that it wasn't the Green Party that was close to getting seat number 8 in the North West of England it was in fact UKIP. If you take UKIPs 130,870 votes (after it had been divided) from the BNP votes 132,094 you get 1224 votes difference in this proportional vote allocation system.

Also note that there were 11,342 rejected votes in the North West of England EU 2009 vote. That was also overlooked.
