To be fair, although they have been trying to re-brand themselves a lot of late, their Yorkshire MEP is definitely a nazi:

You have a point . But let us not forget what a new labour, and in the past ,a conservative government have done to our freedoms. To get sidestepped onto the anti bnp bandwagon is to deny the states complicity in the erosion of our fundamental rights, did not an innocent man get killed on a day when demonstrations were taking place and the demonstrators were beaten by police thugs ? Was there not an innocent man shot on the tube in London under a shoot to kill policy? Are there no innocent imprisoned people ?
It seems another load of taxpayers money is being used to fund anti democracy propaganda, the fascists were voted in were they not, do you promote selective democracy?

Since Woodhouse Moor is little more than a car-park on the edge of town, could you say a bit more about what this protest will entail and who is organising it. We should be doing everything we can to prevent the growth of the BNP, but standing around listening to clueless liberals talking bollocks and constantly having to say "No, I don't want a copy of Trot Vanguard" is not much of an opportunity for antifascists. Hope it entails more than that.

As far a\ I can tell from emails the demo will now be at 11am outside the Art Gallery, there have been three venue and time changes so far so can't be certain, looks like a bit of rubbish organising, as I say, at present 11am at Art Gallery is the correct time and place!

As the original poster got a few details wrong here are the correct details, firstly it is a Leeds demo, they are referring to Hyde Park in Leeds.

Secondly the demo will now be at 11am outside Leeds art gallery and not at Woodhouse in Hyde Park!

The BNP are not a nazi party as opposed to some individuals who are and have been inclined to nazism. For heaven sake they have jews in their party as well as jewish councillors and they support the state of israel. The BNP owe nothing to hitler and the nazis. They are a postmodernist fascist organisation who emphasise identity not race, seperatism not supremacy, and freedom not tyranny. This is indeed a new animal we are dealing with and the old ways of combating them will have to change because they have not worked. The searchlight strategy of nazi stereotyping and criminalisation will not work with this mutated fascism and is in any case against the interests of those of us who are anti-state and are for revolutionary change.

Agreed with above commentor, the stance we're taking towards the BNP does need to change. The egging incident in London, while I found it freakin' hilarious, did nothing for the anti-fascist campaign. The BNP can use such incidents against us; It's amazing what a little PR and spin can do to people. If we're going to be successful with campaigning against these hate-mongers, we need to consider a non-violet approach in order to reveal the true nature of the BNP to the unaware public (Google "BNP rape quotes") and show what a mistake it was to elect these two MEPs. You can't argue against what has already happened, as that's democracy at work. All we can do now is show up at the BNP confrences and appearences and reveal the real BNP.

Hi again Simon, I've replied to a few of your postings. The new IMAGE of the BNP is of a post-fascist, 21st century, right-wing party etc. However, as people are constantly pointing out, as above, the people running the show, including the figureheads who got in as MEPs and the regional/local activists, are without doubt National Socialist scum. As such, the epithet "Nazi" fits them. It may be true that the political education side of fighting fascism involves countering and answering the genuine concerns that the BNP are playing on in order to convince white working class in particular that their interests are not really served by that party (and especially not by the ignorant and violent knuckleheads that seem to keep getting voted in as councillors around the country, see Lancaster UAF's "crap councillors" page for masses of proof), but there is also value in pointing out that the BNP's heritage in ideological and organisational and personnel terms is that of British National Socialism, i.e. Naziism. Particularly amongst older people, this is the ultimate turn-off from their message.

Andrew brons was a member of the national socialist movement 40 fucking years ago, he was the organiser of the National front in the 80' as well but guess what @ he has moved on and left that behind him. Nick griffin was in the National front in the 80's and 90's but left to join the BNP. He too as moved on. The BNP have moved on, fascism changes and mutates to the point where in this country we have a BNP today which owes nothing to hitler or the holocaust. I REPEAT THE BNP HAVE MOVED ON AND THEY ARE NOT GOING TO RETURN TO THE STREETS MUCH TO THE LEFT'S FRUSTRATION. Their strategy is intellectualist and electoralist not streetist which is why the left does not have a fucking clue on how to defeat them. The left has not moved on from this which is why they are still peddling out of date sterotype arguments and the Searchlight strategy of criminilisation. The BNP are fascist and want a fascist state but the strategy to achieve it has mutated OK. Wake the fuck up mr lefty!!!!
