The rise in influence of The BNP, UKIP and the rest of the racist right is made possible by the idea that “stopping” migration is either achievable or desirable. In the current race debate, which is dominated by the eugenicist front “Migration Watch” and their lapdogs at the Express and Mail groups, a position that talks about migration in terms of ending all border controls seems unthinkable.
However, some people from Bristol and the South West are taking a positive stance against the growing threat of racism and the creeping authoritarian state and calling for Freedom of Movement for All!
Bristol No Borders is working with a coalition of groups from the UK, France, Belgium, Germany and beyond to create a protest camp in Calais.
The Camp aims to highlight the humanitarian crisis faced by migrants and their allies in Calais and demonstrate how this situation is caused by the existence of border controls and the actions of the UK government.
After bringing a photo exhibition and info-tour to the UK and numerous solidarity visits to the Calais region, Bristol No Borders are hosting a series of events over the coming weeks leading up to the protest camp.
