Circus Protests Tonbridge

Hannah Soanner | 27.05.2009 20:23 | Animal Liberation | South Coast

Demos planned for Great British Circus tour.

One of the few remaining animal circuses in the UK, the Great British Circus, recently imported three elephants from Germany. This is the first time elephants have been brought in for over ten years. Sonja, Delhi and Wanna Manna are now performing tricks at the circus.
Our website www.captiveanimals.org is the story of the three elephants, one of whom was orphaned during a ‘cull’ in the mid-1970s and sold to a circus. Another elephant had to be rescued using a crane last year and in 2006 after collapsing.
Several protests have been arranged for when the circus is in Tonbridge and more are planned during its stay from Wednesday 3rd - Sunday 7th June at the Boot Fair Site, London Road, Tonbridge, TN4 0UQ. If you want to get involved, e-mail Ashley Owen at Animal Aid or call him 01732 364546 ext 233.
Please note people from Brighton will go to one or two performances, in Tonbridge please get in touch if you would like to go. This circus will probably move onto Worthing the week after, we hope to protest at every performance.
