A humanitarian crisis is currently taking place in the Niger Delta as the army follows the examples of Israel and Sri Lanka and tries to flush out the militants from the swamps - killing and displacing civilians in the process. But then a humanitarian crisis has been taking place in the Niger Delta ever since oil production began there fifty years ago and oil companies began there slow dance with successive dictatorships.
