Taleban- Progressive?

KD | 23.05.2009 08:32 | Social Struggles

Are the Taleban just mindless wife beaters or is there a socially progressive angle?

I ask this because the BBC after months and years of Statist propaganda (Taleban=Saria=beat women etc) present an interview with their correspondent (late in the evening 'cos it's naughty news) who reports that the Taleban have won over the peasants in Swat by expelling the feudal landlords- are the Taleban part of a progressive movement?

A browse on the net brings up lots of class based insurrections in Swat's history- now unwritten by the corporate media- but shouldn't the 'left' discuss more?

Just an thought.
