Immigration detention, is harmful to the mental well being of those detained the detention can lead to acts of Self-Harm

Self-Harm requiring medical treatment~Up 7.8% on last quarter of 2008

Individuals on Assessment Care in Detention~Up 8.5% on last quarter of 2008

Figures on self-harm in immigration detention for the months of January/February/March 2009 inclusive under the following headings:

1) Number of incidents of self-harm requiring medical treatment.

2) Number of individuals on Assessment Care in Detention and Teamwork

3) Number of deaths if any.

In: Campsfield House, Colnbrook, Dover, Dungavel, Harmondsworth,
Haslar, Lindholme, Oakington, Tinsley House, Yarl's Wood, IRC's and any Short Term Holding Centres.

The information requested is in the tables below, there were no deaths in any of the centres or Short-Term Holding Facilities during this period.

Very sad to read this

Very very sad to hear of people being affected in this way. There is a bunch of us going out to the Sangatte area next month to meet with the people there, to tell them the truth about asylum claiments in the UK and basicly discourage them to try and come to the UK. We are going to be provding an education package that will help them settle in France and claim what they need to start a new life there.

Why on earth should people be discouraged to come to UK? Are you working for the BNP or what?
No Borders with others are organising a No Borders camp in Calais, 23 to 29 June 2009. Come to that if you want to see the reality on the ground and liase with migrants and refugees coming to the UK, and iwth French activists. BTW, there are detention centres also in France! Nazis fuck off.

I'd request Gregg to go to the native countries of these immigrants, and try abolishing the causes, poverty, persecution, destitution, in short lack of decent living conditions or any of hope of it rather than putting on a show of being a sympathiser of the oppressed. You, Gregg, are either an inane bleeding heart liberal or a xenophone fascist in a liberal garb, and in either case no friend of immigrants and asylum seekers. So yeah, fuck off !!!
