Spelling Organise correctly ?

The spelling on the leaflet is the American version and the correct English version is spelled with an s.

Will I now be accused of racism for pointing that out ?

A schoolboy error. It's not American, both -ize and -ise are of British origin, with -ise adopted by some Brits when it was fashionable to 'Frenchify' spellings, as with program -> programme etc.

Although -ise is in more common use in Britain and -ize in America, there are notable institutions like the Oxford English Dictionary which favour -ize.

Joe Hill quote

17.05.2009 12:45

the "Don't vote - Organize!" is an adaption of the 'final words' of the well known Wobbly , member of the IWW, Joe Hill before his execution.

the original quote is "Don't Mourn - Organize!" and has been adapted quite a lot.

Apparently his actual last word before his execution by firing squad was "FIRE!"

Second the comment above - would love to throw some of these around, and the posters that came out before, but the England bit is going to be a problem round here. Could someone make a version available saying Antifa Wales? Would be good...

Antifa Wales?

18.05.2009 09:49

Dear Comrades,

After complaints from comrades in Scotland we changed our name from Antifa Britain to Antifa England. As we had no established groups in Wales we didn't want to be accused of imperialism. We would very much welcome the establishment of Antifa groups in Wales, where we know antifascists are active. If anyone wants to e-mail us at the national Antifa address (on the website) we'll send you a Publisher file which you can adapt as you wish.

Good luck to everyone.

a punch in the face is better than a kick in the balls

18.05.2009 20:20

"why take part in a system that only allows you to choose one set of scumbags from another?"

because some set of scumbags are more scumbaggy than others. This election is based on proportional representation and only 9% is needed to ended up with the BNP. The less people who do vote will mean each indivdual vote having more power. BNP supporters will certanly be voting.

A killer argument

18.05.2009 21:05

I am so afraid that I listen to you,
your sun glassed protectors they do that to you.
It's their ways to detain, their ways to disgrace,
their knee in your balls and their fist in your face.
Yes and long live the state by whoever it's made,
sir, I didn't see nothing, I was just getting home late.

here's an idea

18.05.2009 22:58

spoil your ballot paper by writting across it the reason you are not voting

annon

The Simpsons did it

18.05.2009 23:20

Spoiled papers isn't a new idea. It doesn't normally get counted because the ballot counters are generally paid council employees who are recruited as free-lancers, hardly representing you or me.
I'd like to tell you of a few cases where it has backfired but that is a distraction. That is not a valid tactic.

20p song for wannabe politicians

19.05.2009 00:32

I could update this but I can't better it. Remove the temporary employees names and replace them with the current scum to realise nothing has changed for the better, the system just updates personalities, slowly.

Kenneth Baker, Bill Pritchard, 1989

On a cloudless day as he puts in the 10p
For a telephone tantrum, it was for the last time
Just a quarreling couple, it was for the last time
But think about the children that can't afford you
Kenneth Baker is a sick man
Kenneth Baker is a sick man

And all those industrialists, yeah those laudible lynchmen
With their crippling losses and their crippling gains
But think about the children that can't afford you
Kenneth Baker is a sick man
Kenneth Baker is a sick man

And there are those, heaven knows,
Who wank kids brains off every night on the telly
But think about the children that can't afford you
Kenneth Baker is a sick man
Kenneth Baker is a sick man

And the Pope is a sick man,
Helmut Kohl is a sick man
Jeffrey Archer is a sick man,
Edwina Curry is a sick man
Margaret Thatcher is a sick man,
Noel Edmonds is a sick man
George Bush is a sick man,
Ronald Reagan is a sick man

But most of all Le Pen is a sick man

And when all's said and done
Thatcher and Reagan are the biggest terrorists of all

Don't Vote - Vote AND Organize

19.05.2009 15:34

nice analogy. we have 3 options.

1. vote labor, tory, lib dem or whoever and end up with a punch in the face
2. vote bnp and end up with a kick in the groin with a nice shiny jackboot
3. boycot voting and end up with either option 1 or option 2

either way we all end up getting screwed over, just depends how much you want to get screwed over. I don't normally vote but I can't let the bnp get in so I'm thinking of voting green. I know they will most likey end corrupt and dishonest as all politions but it will be better than the bnp and who knows they may even manage to implement a useful policy before screwing us over.

stop swp bollocks

Maybe when you come up with some sensable ideas.

19.05.2009 19:05

What your suggesting is just stupid. No one is saying not to mobalize and take action, thats somthing everyone should do. But not voting because it some how compromises your morals and goes against your 'beliefs' is just stupid.

Using direrect action will eventuall smash the bnp but allowing them to win at an election seems like a major step back for the cause and also kind of dangerous.

Yes the whole system is set up so some sort of scumbag is in charge but until we can bring the whole thing down you might as well keep out the worst option. Not voting is not going bring down the system but it can keep the facists from taking over

The same old tune from fairweather anarchists and clueless liberals

27.05.2009 17:19

"Not voting is not going bring down the system but it can keep the facists from taking over "

What utter rubbish! This isn't just about 'morals', which of course you've already thrown out of the proverbial window, it's about strategy. Anyone who thinks that by voting Labour or Tory (or whoever else) they are going to stop the "facists" (sic) from taking over has not been paying much attention to recent political history (anymore than they have the English language.) The Antifa position is not only consistent and in line with their politics, it makes a lot more sense than the 'Vote anybody but the BNP to keep out fascism' twaddle, which simply validates an utterly rotten system.

Leeds

30.05.2009 22:31

2000 of these leaflets given out in Leeds city centre today, and we got an excellent response. What a shame the UAF had to lie to their supporters about the BNP planning a street stall on Briggate to try and get them out. You can only cry 'Wolf' so many times, which just about sums up their whole campaign - How can a vote for Labour, the Tories, or even UKIP ("Use Your Vote!!" ) possibly be a vote AGAINST racism?!
