Gaza Under Attack: Eyewitness Reports and What Is To Be Done?

Liverpool Social Centre | 04.05.2009 17:11 | Palestine | Liverpool

Ewa Jasiewicz and Caoimhe Butterly have been on the ground in Gaza since November, having arrived on the siege breaking Free Gaza boat. They will be reporting the
reality of lives under siege and under military assault.

Ewa is an experienced journalist, community and union organiser who has been active in Palestine solidarity for many years. Her articles have appeared in The Independent,
The Guardian, Le Monde Diplomatique, Red Pepper, Left Turn, and Z Net, among others. She worked with the ISM in Palestine, and with Voices in the Wilderness in Iraq.

Caoimhe Butterly is an Irish human rights activist who has worked on human rights
observations projects in Zimbabwe, Chiapas, Guatemala, Iraq and Palestine. Caoimhe lived in the Jenin refugee camp for a year in 2002 before being shot by Israeli soldiers then deported.

They will be talking about what has been happening in Gaza, their experiences and what we can do. Both are particularly keen to talk to people who want to take action over Gaza by targeting companies connected with the Israeli occupation.
We also plan to discuss whether the Palestinian issue and anti-imperialism generally is relevant to working class struggle.

Wednesday 6th May 7.30pm, Next To Nowhere - Liverpool Social Centre - 96 Bold St (basement of News From Nowhere bookshop)

Ewa will also be talking at Liverpool Hope University's Childwall Campus
at 5pm on Tuesday 5th of May.

ALL WELCOME!
