ARC Forum up and running

Dave B | 03.05.2009 15:43 | Animal Liberation

As mentioned at previous 'Animal Rights Coalition' meetings. An online forum has been set up, so grassroots animal rights groups can coordinate with each other easier.

The forum has boards for many different topics from legal to vegan campaigning to idea sharing

Below are directions on how to get access.

go to www.animalrightsforum.com

1.register an account

2.log into account

3.go to 'user control panel'

4.then click on usergroups tab

5.select and join 'animal rights collective'

The ARC boards will become unhidden

Cynical

Probably a police attempt to harvest our details.

No borders, no cages

Not so cynical

if the police wanted details they would just harvest i.p addresses off various activist websites, and facebook ofcourse.

besides anyone to join an Animal Rights Coalition forum probably has there details known already.

if the police wanted to harvest details the would just track ip address visiting activist websites, and using facebook ofcourse

also anyone joining an ARC forum is probably on a database anyway

Beware

I'm with cynical on this. Sure the state could harvest details from multiple activist websites - but one AR webforum to get them all from is an opportunity they would love.

I don't see the practical point of having a "hidden" forum that anyone can view merely by registering.

birthdays??

just had a look. no good checking the logs for me as i used a proxy. my first thought is that they are collecting far too much info. they are wishing happy birthday to individual members of the forum and some poor sod has his birthday today. so each time he posts in the future all they need to do is match the usual suspects to dob's and.... bingo.

i wont go there again until i see serious discussion and a bit of transparent security.

whats wrong with good old indymedia anyway?!

Its a forum

the only information that can be harvested is the information people put online. Fact

a forum where people share activism ideas and banner designs is hardly a threat

don't use junk like that.

It's actually quite a large threat actually. Why do you think there has been so much interest in indymedias security in past few months? about the logging/storing of IPs.

Anyone wanting to have a space for AR people to talk to each other would be advised to use a riseup.net list.
