The comment above is sadly so predictable. There's nothing 'revolutionary' in attempting to undermine any action which is outside the control of your organisation. The purpose of the event advertised here is not to 'hijack' any other event, it is to take the May Day celebrations out to the people of Newcastle, most of whom are unaware of the 'official' march which briefly passes through town on the way from an out of the way assembly point to an out of the way rally with a closed and prearranged platform of speakers, and to create a forum for all those sections of the working class whose voices are so often excluded.

It's not in competition or opposition with the march, after the rally we will be joining the march and going to the rally at Exhibition Park. It's shaping up to be very diverse and lively event, contibuted to by a very wide range of groups, and if the SWP chooses to attend then like anyone else they will be welcome to speak and participate fully.

The reclaim mayday event tomorrow at the monument has been organised by anarchists as much as the RCG people. People will likely go to both the monument and the boring Centre for Life march.

Maybe we could organise some cathartic event so the swappies and the FRFI folks could get this competitive thing out of their system.
