Unemployed Unrepresented

Again the unions arrange a march for the WORKERS, with the demands that soley support the worker and the business person. In Unites list of demands it fails to see that there are the unemployed out there now, so where are the demands to protect us.

The leaders of many of the trade unions are conservative and in bed with New Labour, one would hardly expect the slogans to be that radical. I doubt whether UNITE are going to invite their members who have been occupying factories in Basildon, Belfast and Enfield to speak from the platform despite militant action winning some damn good concessions. Nor will the Prisme factory workers who saved jobs by occupying probably gonna be asked to speak.

Nevertheless it is a step forward that a major trade union is (finally) calling a march to save jobs, which implicitly is in solidarity with those who are losing jobs and unemployed.

What we need to do is make sure that every militant and radical gets on the march to shift the mood leftwards & engage with the thousands of people who will be marching to make it a more militant, angry and forceful demonstration that calls for militant working class action to save jobs.
