Union Acitvist Occupies Car Plant Swansea

Rob Williams, a UNITE Union Convenor was this morning summarily sacked by LINAMAR, a Canadian multi-national corporation. He has barricaded himself into his office and was still there at 8pm tonight. 100 workers walked of the assembly line in support of his actions. A crowd is growing outside.
UNITE Union Covenor Rob Williams was this morning sacked by the car manufacturer LINAMAR and has barricaded himself into his office. Rob is well known in Swansea as a militant trade unionist and over a 100 workers walked off the assembly line in solidarity with Rob’s action. A Police Van and a number of Police cars entered the plant mid-afternoon while members of the public and other unions gathered outside
LINAMAR is a Canadian Multi-National Corporation who on their website describe themselves as ‘THE EMPLOYER OF CHOICE’, but are known to be virulently anti-union. Working conditions at the Corporations plants in countries such as Mexico and South Korea are said to be appalling, and all Union activity is banned.
As of 8pm tonight Rob was still Occupying his office.
