He is just so single issue. He just rants on and on about the innocents killed in Sri Lanka, what is wrong with him? I think if this so-called independent cartoonist was genuinely independent of the the Tamil Tigers then he would occasionally focus on other regions of the world.

If Latuff isn't a hypocrite, can't we please have at least one cartoon about Iraq or Israel for a change? Sri Lanka isn't the only genocide happening today.

Regardless of whether his pointless, unfunny "cartoons" involve Sri Lanka, Gaza, Southern Lebanon, Iraq or Afghanistan, Latuff always sides with the terrorists, ignores their war crimes and abuse of civilian populations, and never misses an opportunity to spuriously compare the forces of democracy to evil Nazis. Pure, but fortunately feeble, enemy propaganda.

Yes! Upon investigating Latuff it became clear that he does support other terrorists apart from the Sri Lankans. His cartoons also support Brasilian trade-unionists. We can't have that here, on a nice British forum. Surely nobody here wants evil foriegners like Brazilian workers to have any rights whatsoever. Lets clamp down, zero tolerance for anyone who suggests a third world new comer can earn any of your laughter. Phone 999 and ask for the Brasilian squad.

The day I slag off Latuff, I am going to print a cartoon of mine that is far pithier and more accurate than his. I am not yet a good enough cartoonist to do this, but once I am, Latuff is history.

Until then, continue sucking on cold air.

Missed opportunity

What a missed opportunity! Despite decades of the LTTE forcibly conscripting children, Latuff has only just latched on to the situation, and even then bizarrely only covered one side. Perhaps the gross human rights abuses of these children doesn't interest him much.

Criticising a cartoonist for being simplistic is like criticising a poet for being succinct. That is where the art lies.

On the subject of Sri Lanka though I would highly recommend the above novel. It doesn't attempt to explain the conflict at all but it does give a sense of the terror and trauma it has caused. I'd rate it as one of the best, certainly one of the most poetic anti-war novels.

It's not just that he's simplistic - he's downright not funny!

Ted Rall, for instance, is funny. Steve Bell is funny. Also, neither of these contributed to a competition designed to make fun of the Holocaust.
