As the people of the United Kingdom reel from the news that the British Labour government have lost functional control of the British wartime economy, Mr Subramaniyan reaches day 18 of his hunger strike outside the Parliament building.

The Tamil people in Sri Lanka continue to suffer horrendous casualties at the hands of the Sri Lankan military with UN estimates now claiming that almost 6, 500 people are now dead. The figure is expected to be revised upwards as independent observers are not present to verify the figure.
As the claim is made, the Indian government place further pressure on the Sri Lankans to end the proscriptive operation.
The operation was brought into play in February 2009 year by the British ambassador to the UN, Sir John Sawyers.
