Irish mercenary killed in Bolivia had been working for Shell

Following the shooting dead of Michael Martin Dwyer from Ballinderry, County Tipperary in the town of Santa Cruz in Bolivia, local media in that country reported he was involved with a band of international mercenaries, funded by right wing groups which are intent on undermining the left-wing government of Evo Morales.
It has come to light that the Irish man had been employed as a securtity guard by Shell.

At the end of 2007, the majority of security guards employed by Shell at the site of the proposed refinery and production pipeline in Mayo on the west coast of Ireland were replaced by operatives from a company called IRMS. These new security guards were mostly ex-military types, who were much more aggressive in dealing with the many protests against the controversial project.

One local man reported that he had spoken to a security guard from IRMS who had served in the South African army, and was using his time in Ireland as a break between trips to work as a private contractor in Iraq. Many of the security men were former members of the British and Irish armies, but some were obviously young men from Ireland who had backgrounds in the security industry, guarding places like construction sites.

Controversy flared when the security guards based at Glengad on the coast insisted on filming people using the beach, including small children.

The attitude of the security to the local people, protesters, and media was extremely poor, with guards refusing to wear identity tags and ordering people around like soldiers. Many people said they felt that the security were far too aggressive and behaved "like and occupying army".

It now transpires that Michael Dwyer frm Tipperary was among the Irish men involved in the security operation.

He went to Bolivia after working for Shell in Mayo, but it is not clear whether he was still under contract with IRMS. He seems to have made connections with extremists and paid mercenaries, in whose company he was gunned down by Bolivian Security forces.

This story has been buried by the BBC so deeply that you really have to keep investigating this and publicising it.

The Army Rumour Service have been covering this in depth so check them out, the last time I looked the consensus seemed to be the Irishman was a 'walt', a faker out of his depth. The Bolivian government seem to be claiming the assasins were not only going to attack them, but attack their Santa Cruz opponents. One of the dead has claimed to fight for Santa Cruz against communism.

Attacking both sides is a policy of destablistation, and hints at an outside interest. A soldier on ARRSE mentioned how this is playing with Chilean supporters of Allende. This is CIA 101 but it seems too incompetent even for the CIA, more the style of the Cuban exiles / School of the Americas graduates that infest Florida.

Put in context, last week Morales went before the OAS and demanded to be thrown out of the Americas summit for openly being a marxist. Cuba was thrown out for that reason, so basically he was saying 'Either readmit Cuba or disband' - there is a new Latin American Bolivarian group that now rivals the OAS that Morales addresses last week. Poor old Bolivia just happens to have the biggest lithium deposits comparable only to Saudi oil in it's importance.

And some young Irishman who played paintball and watched James Bond movies has just been found dead in his underpants. There have got to be a few stories here worth uncovering.
