On 15 March the people of El Salvador elected a new president Mauricio Funes, of the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN). What consequences will an FMLN government have for El Salvador and regional international relations?
El Salvador is part of the Central America free trade agreement with the US. Will this change? The El Salvadorean peace process has been held up as a model for resolving the conflict in Colombia, what is the model and does it apply?
