Bristol Rising Tide and Westside Statement of Solidarity for the RATCLIFFE 114
westy | 15.04.2009 20:34 | Climate Chaos | Repression | Social Struggles
Many people will have seen the news on Monday morning that 114 people were arrested in Nottingham ahead of an alleged protest at E.ON's Ratcliffe-on-Soar coal-fired power station..
We understand that they have now all been released on bail, without charge. We do not know what had planned to do, but if it was to disrupt some climate changing infrastructure we offer them our support and solidarity.
With governments and corporations so closely intertwined, it is clear that only direct action carried out by those outside the corrupt political system can be relied on to change things: by attempting to do what the establishments' vested interests prevent them from doing.
Climate Chaos is happening right now. We need to remove the governing elite and replace it with a social system which serves all our needs.
As for the the mass preemptive arrests, as with all victims of the criminal justice system, we offer them our support and solidarity

But why are they the RATCLIFEE 114? Who knows what they were going to do (if anything) or where they were going (if anywhere). The only thing which links them with Ratcliffe is information from that ever-reliable source, the rozzers.
