Rent strike for decent environment

Walking tour through Abercromby - an area completely transformed and 'regenerated' by Liverpool University

Exactly 40 years ago, Abercromby Tenants Association went on a total
rent strike fighting against deterioration of their housing environment.
They refused to be victims of the Council slum clearance policy. What
was the role of Liverpool University in transformation of Abercromby
area? Why did the tenants forge an alliance with radical students to
protest against Princes Alexandra visiting the University in May 1969?
And what is the future of this area, deliberately named 'Knowledge
Quarter' by the City, developers and the University officials?
Researcher Kim Singleton and activist Leo Singer lead a walking tour and
discussion event.
