G20 to come to Scotland in November

Fabbri | 14.04.2009 19:05 | G20 London Summit | Globalisation

During the G20 summit at the beginning of the month in London heads of state from around the world agreed on an “Action Plan” to try and combat the recent economic downturn [1].

Apart from having very little in it about combating climate change or trying to avert job losses, and lots about giving mind-blowing amounts of money to the very people who are responsible for this problem in the first place, it also mentions that there will be a meeting of Finance Ministers in Scotland in November. At this meeting representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the new Financial Stability Board (FSB) and the Financial Action Taskforce (FAT) will meet with the Financial Ministers.

The Meeting of G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors will take place between the 7th and 9th of November [2], the weekend before the NATO Parliamentary Assembly meets in Edinburgh [3]. Currently, no venue for the G20 meeting has been announced. One possible contender is Gleneagles Hotel, which hosted the G8 summit in 2005.

With two summits in Scotland so close together it appears it is going to be a busy November.
