As the Sri Lankan government announce a temporary truce in fighting between government forces and the Tamil Tigers, Tamils reach day 6 of their protest in London to object to the carnage being meted out to the Tamil civilian population. A ceasefire that is likely to fail at any time.

Two men have now been on hunger strike for over a week, one of them now receiving medical help prior to travelling to the United Nations to appeal for peace. The second man continues his hunger strike in the Square and is now becoming emaciated.

Since the start of the assault, British Tamils have carried out several very large protests mobilising over a million people in the United Kingdom.

Despite the crisis, the British government have failed to reconvene parliament. Parliament Square, London, UK. 12/04/2009.

The hunger strike

13.04.2009 10:49

One of two Tamils on hunger strike in London since Tuesday to protest against the Sri Lankan military campaign gave up his fast and made a speech to the demonstrators. Sivatharsan Sivakumaraval, 21, ended his protest after gaining assurances that he can travel to the United States to inform US authorities about the Tamils' plight, the director of the Act Now campaign, Tim Martin, said. (he did not 'end' the protest, he suspended it for 10 days, as it was sayd at the rally, open your ears, NdE)

His fellow hunger striker, 28-year-old student Prarameswaran Subramaniam, agreed to take liquids on Friday but was continuing his fast next to the Houses of Parliament in London, with doctors monitoring his condition.

Thank you for the suggestion.

I've now placed a screen over the original report but I can't do this at Indymedia as there is no facility here.

Gruseome pictures

If you think the pictures are too gruesome, think that is what little toddlers and babies are forced to watch live in Sri Lanka.

Its Wrong, but could happen here.

As an ex serviceman I can say I would be happy to go to Sri Lanka to stop the killing. No innocent children should ever get killed in this modern day.

I am a BNP supporter (shock horror) and we are by leftie media standards not supposed to care about foreign wars. But we do I seen first hand while in the army the horrors of war in Iraq and Bosnia, and its wrong.

But I am against this war coming to British streets, and soon we will have our own, or should I say our children against Islam. Look at the horrific pictures (and I agree these killings must stop Now) But thats where we are heading in the UK.

people want to live amongst their own, with their own religions and ways of doing things, its human nature.Mass Immigration into the UK must be stopped, or it will happen here. Or should I say it already has,,,,,,, London.
