Visteon workers end occupation - the struggle continues

solidarity | 09.04.2009 14:23 | Social Struggles | Workers' Movements

Visteon workers occupying the factory at Enfield left the building together at midday today.

There were around 200 supporters to greet them with rousing cheers, applause and chants as the occupiers descended the spiral steps at midday (the time the eviction notice became active).

Despite the difficult decision to leave the factory, which was fraught with legal implications, the workers are determined to continue the struggle for a decent redundancy package and all outstanding wages owing.

They have set up a picket outside the factory to ensure visteon can't begin to strip it down.
People are still needed to support the picket as well as flyer ford dealships highlighting the situation in Enfield as well as Basildon and Belfast.

The visteon workers are still under contract with ford.
