Putting Profit First – a Banking Perspective of Sat.28th March 2009

A small minority of bankers clearly intent on disruption and provoking others into radical action were spotted parading their placards around central London on the Put People First demo on Sat. 28th March 2009 . The eight executives were there to add a dose of market rationality to this otherwise wide-eyed collective of 40,000 dreamers demanding Jobs, Justice and Climate. The bankers' message was clear: Leave it to the Market.

Putting Profit First – a Banking Perspective of Sat.28th March 2009

With placards such as, “Distract Them With War (it worked for Thatcher)”, “Money Buys Me Love on a Regular Basis” and “The Poor and Needy are Selfish and Greedy”, the eight bankers powered through the march, demanding spare change along the way to finance hefty pension schemes and chauffeur expenses.

More generally the group were forceful if obnoxious in berating everyone else around them as dangerous, subversive, anarcho-communist scum who were told to get back to work and/or get another job. The group paused at Piccadilly Circus, describing it as a “shrine to corporate Britain worthy of both praise and admiration”.

I'm really really hoping you realised that they weren't bankers and that they were taking the piss...

I think it's pretty safe to say that the above article is tongue-in-cheek satire. ;)
