When Belgium is flirting with neo-Nazis

Tim Weigh | 02.04.2009 14:31

The following text and photos have been found on the Belgian forum Indymedia.be at  http://www.indymedia.be/en/node/32446 which have since been censored. Maybe they are considered too embarrassing for a small country so much known for its scandals. The forbidden photos are referring to a conference that took place last September in Hamburg to which representatives of foreign countries, participated. The below text has been edited to comply with editorial rules.

That one branch of the government of the country that was the source of Nazism supports this activity is more than troubling. But when representatives of Belgium are involved, this is going too far. How can that be tolerated?

Understandably, Belgian citizens have reasons to be concerned.
What is troubling too is that some of these these goose-stepping and saluting masked guys are UK citizens.

what is the point of this article?
it appears to show what looks like photos taken out of context (when's the last time you saw a real nazi doing the tash with his other hand?) and doesn't tell us what the actual conference was about. seriously, this is not reporting, or comment, or even a political statement. this is just some photos and a couple of lines of text which seemingly misinterprets them.

please actually explain what happened?

curious

Anti-Scientology conference, Hamburg

02.04.2009 16:02

For crying out loud, this article has been posted to the site three times now, and as pointed out before the first images are taken from an anti-scientology conference in Hamburg, Germany which took place a little while back. The guys in V-for-Vendetta masks are participants of the loose Anonymous anti-Scientology movement.

Footage on YouTube:

The conference was picketed by Scientology claiming various bad things about Anonymous, and the claim, particularly in Germany, that opponents are Nazis is a standard Scientology tactic.

As someone else noted, the fire hydrants in the later images are British ones.
