G20: Big Brother's 25th birthday today! I Kid You Not!

George Orwell | 31.03.2009 23:12 | G20 London Summit | Culture | Globalisation | Repression | World

Some ambiguity surrounds the exact date but it looks like today is as good a day as any 'bright cold day in April' to celebrate rotten brothers many years of intrusion and spying.

"The story begins on 4 April 1984: "It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen".[12] The date is questionable, because it is what Winston Smith perceives. In the story's course, he concludes it as irrelevant, because the State can arbitrarily alter it; the year 1984 and its world are transmutable" (en.wikipedia.org)
